Checking out compatible DVD players for both standalone and "connected to a computer via USB" usage.  So far, I have tested this unit for USB use: External DVD drive.  It works great on Macintosh, and it's only $13.  Also, I've tested this standalone unit:  Ematic 7-inch Portable DVD player.  It's $50 and comes in various colors, including matching headphones. Cool!
